The Mozilla story video.
What can I say, I still like the idea of Mozilla and Firefox, though not necessarily the reality of it.
While I like google (there’s a more than even chance that my next handset will be this) and what they’re trying to do, I’ve been screwed by large corporations enough times to know that sooner or later they’ll end up doing something I really can’t live with. And sooner or later, they’ll definitely end up doing something that’s just too damn bad for the future of the web, because let’s face it- with the vast majority of the human population just about to get wired in any serious way there’s a lot of money in these things. And vast majority of the voting population in the so-called first world countries more or less take the web for granted, as if it just dropped from the sky by the grace of the FSM one day.
So yeah, I have a real crush on Mozilla and open web, something that’s not been reciprocated since… As long as I can remember. The entire HTML5 and app market place was supposed to be in place like a year ago, and Firefox, while drastically improved, is still a little clunky next to chrome.
At least I think they’re onto something with the Fennec series of mobile browser for android based operating systems and universal app compatibility that would ensure that some/most apps would work across desktops and mobiles provided that they are connected to the web… Just wish the browser wasn’t just limited to androids though.
