NYC subway service changes available via Google... →
Which is pretty great, though the service not being available without network access will diminish its usefulness somewhat. Google maps is one of the main reasons why most people will either stay with, or move to android I think.

The whole cell computational model to predict... →
Link to the original paper, published in the Cell. So many interesting applications. The only issue is the one of computational complexity, meaning it might be a little daunting to run on netbooks. It’s interesting to note the time to calculate one generation of a cell is equal to its biological equivalent.

Synthesizing and ligating
As I was shuffling through papers in search of the next solution, it suddenly hit me that I’ve been combining naturally occurring DNA sequences with artificially synthesized strands to create new behavior in life for most of my adult life. And the process is so mundnane, so integrated into what I perceive the normal activities of human life to be, I no longer feel especially excited by the...

A number of interesting possibilities, but the real treasure would be the ones we do not expect yet.

Months, possibly years of reading and writing research papers and paper related literatures might have done some irreversible damage on me. I’m having a horrible time writing anything even remotely creative and personal for longer than a thousand words or so. Hopefully I’m just out of practice.

Dear tumblr
Too many people I know IRL on other SNS and blogging services out there. I can hardly vent anymore. Which is disastrous because angry blogging is one of the things I do to blow off steam… Oh tumblr. I only have you. Please don’t become as popular as twitter or facebook, but not so unheard of that no one’s ever around.

Books and Tumblr about books?
I’m constantly searching for some decent books to read, regardless of the genre (though my heart holds special fondness for history and science). There’s got to be a tumblr account j can follow that posts kickass book recommendations right? Anything good I should get started with?
