‘Amongst the more deceptive of fruits, the pear is not to be trusted.’ -from Dungeons of Dredmor Indie games these days are just too good to pass up. In fact I think most of the high quality games of the year came from small independent operations rather than big name publishers, with very few notable exceptions.

Raking up mad praises in simcity for mobile. About the only decent game for the blackberry platform. Association is a funny thing, and I think of xo pc whenever I think about simcity. So far its greatest contribution seem to have been changing the mindset of corporate execs in PC manufacturing companies rather than those of children its supposed to serve, but then you can never tell true impact...

Part of the experiment proposal to the ISS. These little suckers are capable of crystallizing DNA molecules within the mesh structure for storage, visualization, and restriction at zero G. (They’re called straws)

That makes me wonder, what’s the most widely read Ubuntu related website/zine out there? I feel like there should be quite a few.

I could swear I stashed a bag sandwiches in the lab fridge somewhere, but I can’t find it anywhere. Was I hallucinating?

I spent the entire day holding myself back from telling them to go screw themselves. This can’t be good for my mental health.

Hey guys, Nook simple touch vs the $79 Kindle. What do you think? I’m leaning heavily toward the Nook (b/c it runs android, thus amenable to possible future modded firmware + it supports epub). I’m just worried about the amount of books available and B&N keep on closing down stores left and right. #ebook #gadget

Current brand of widespread religious fundamentalism is a product of modernity, it’s one facet of this specific decade we live in. Thinking that fundamentalism is a feature of a specific religion, or that it has always been in the shape we see it now, would be disastrous for the future.  I’m worried that the situation is getting ever more advantageous for various powerful, yet...

Thinking about Sweeney Todd and Soylent Green. You run an entire program to feed the population back to themselves in some twisted show of Malthusian dynamics and you’re a captain of the industry. You kill one guy who’s murdered everything you’ve ever loved and make some pies out of him and you’re a psycopathic murderer. Moral standard of the human society seem to...

Yo #igem guys, check out some awesome indie biopunk scifi! Reopening the @jsundmanus files - http://bit.ly/rtsppj via @creativecommons Genspace needs to publish more CC stuff from now on. All the experiments and lab practices in the world wouldn’t mean a thing without publishing it to the public.

Anyone around here used flattr before? Thinking about applying it to the Genspace page and some other projects I’m working for.

Hey guys, anyone doing #nanowrimo around here? I think we only need to write like 1677 words per day, which isn’t a lot when you think about it. I’m thinking ‘labnotes of a mad man.’
